Mr Gupta’s appointment comes at a time where Australia continues to gain recognition as front-runners in renewable integration into the grid, and as APAC becomes WePower’s product innovation and development hub.

Gary was previously at Flow Power, Utilacor, Service Central and Red Energy, bringing over 15 years of experience in energy retail operations and sales to the business. In his role, he will be responsible for designing and executing strategic, customer-centric policies to increase flexibility and transparency for energy customers and retailers, while driving sustainability transformations throughout the wider business and operations.

Commenting on his appointment, Mr Gupta said:

“I was impressed with how WePower’s platform so easily connects industry stakeholders from energy retailers to buyers,  giving them direct access to renewable energy. I strongly believe the company has the capabilities to fill gaps within the local energy market for retailers and generators. There’s a lot happening in Australia’s renewable space and I’m excited to be at the forefront of it all with the team.”

Kaspar Kaarlep, founder and CTO of WePower, said:

“We’re thrilled to welcome Gary to the WePower family. Gary’s deep knowledge of the Australian energy market, and his unique ability to identify and resolve challenges in an ever-evolving space that is the Australian energy retail landscape is valuable for us, and we’re excited to continue growing with him.”

Earlier in February, Wepower delivered Australia’s first blockchain-enabled online marketplace for energy contracts to energy retailer Mojo Power. WePower also recently facilitated QEnergy’s deal to purchase energy production from Mytilineos’ Wagga North Solar Farm in New South Wales.
